Fiserv President Suryadevara Departs, Company Appoints Interim Co-Leaders
Payment processor Fiserv disclosed in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that President Dhivya Suryadevara resigned on Tuesday but will remain until the end of the month to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities. The company has appointed Andrew Gelb and Srini Krish to temporarily co-lead the financial solutions business.

Core Overview
- Payment processor Fiserv disclosed in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that President Dhivya Suryadevara resigned on Tuesday, but she will remain until the end of the month to complete an "orderly transition of duties."
- The company said that, according to the terms of the offer letter signed in August last year, Suryadevara's departure was "for good reason." A spokesperson said in an email: "We can confirm that Dhivya Suryadevara has decided to leave Fiserv, and we thank her for her contributions."
- Two executives received temporary promotions to lead the financial solutions business in place of Suryadevara. According to the filing, the company promoted Andrew Gelb, chief operating officer of the business, and Srini Krish, who is responsible for technology operations, to jointly lead the business. The spokesperson said both have been with the company for 12 years.
In-Depth Analysis
In the statement, the spokesperson also noted that after Suryadevara's resignation, the company's "strategy, priorities, and key actions" remain unchanged.
The Milwaukee-based company's executive changes come after it announced last month that Takis Georgakopoulos would be promoted to CEO, following Mike Lyons' departure to take a leadership role at Truist. The CEO transition comes as the company has struggled to meet its self-imposed growth targets.
In October last year, Lyons told analysts that the company had "embedded unrealistic assumptions" in its guidance for revenue growth, sales activity, and broad productivity improvements. This came after the company's third-quarter earnings report showed sales and net profit both fell short of analysts' expectations.
Analysts at investment firm Robert W. Baird said in a note to clients on Tuesday: "We find this departure somewhat unsettling, but not surprising, as Suryadevara joined under Mike's tenure, and he left less than 12 months after her arrival. Although management reaffirmed its commitment to core modernization initiatives when Mike left, we believe this departure may reignite investor concerns about the durability of Fiserv's financial solutions strategy."
Georgakopoulos previously served as co-president alongside Suryadevara, and the above co-leadership appointments took effect on December 1 of last year. In addition to her co-president role, Suryadevara was also responsible for leading the financial solutions, sales, and operations divisions.
Suryadevara joined Fiserv from UnitedHealth Group, where she served as CEO of its Optum Financial Services and Optum Insight divisions. She spent less than two years at the healthcare company, and previously served as chief financial officer at digital payments giant Stripe. Earlier in her career, she held the CFO role at automaker General Motors.
After Georgakopoulos became CEO, Fiserv did not publicly announce Suryadevara's role as president, which is quite notable. An analyst at TD Cowen noticed this, but a company spokesperson unusually declined to comment on her role last month.
